Why Should I Buy Reason 5.0?

by Leonel Solei

Propellerhead Software is the company responsible for Reason 5.0, one of the most appealing and unique music making softwares available today. This single program allows the use of synthesizers, sequencers, samplers, mixers, all from the comfort of your home, and right in front of your computer screen.

Reason is basically a complete music studio but all inside your computer. Practically speaking it loses none of the functionality of a real life studio and is enough to create professional sounding music out of the box. As a stand-alone product it's already enough for the normal sized project, but if you want you can also combine it other audio software using Rewire.

Reason became famous when it was first introduced in the year 2000 for its original interface, most especially the studio rack which was designed to look exactly like the real thing, complete with wobbly cables at the back. You can choose and stack different instruments and effects on top of each other in the virtual rack, personalizing your music creation process.

There have now been four versions ever since the arrival of the first Reason more than a decade ago, and it just keeps getting better and better. Reason 5.0 subscribes to the same standard of excellence with new devices such as the Kong Drum Designer and the Dr. Octo Rex loop player. Of course you can expect significant improvements in the performance of the older instruments and effects as well.

There are also a number of different effects available in Reason 5.0. Some of the most popular include but are not limited to distortion, reverb, a vocoder, a chorus and even popular mastering effects. There are also plenty of customizable features that come with Reason 5.0 which helps to make your experience a unique one when you're using it.

The only disadvantage in Reason 5.0, amidst all its great features, is that it lacks the ability to record audio on its own, and it doesn't accept third-party plugins. The audio recording part is where ReWire comes in. These restrictions might seem disadvantageous at first, but it doest effectively lend to stability and reliability of the software. Reason is very light on your CPU, and it doesn't hang or crash like the other music softwares regularly do.

If you have the budget to buy only one music software, then chances are Reason 5.0 is the perfect buy for you!
