Keynotes on How to Play Guitar Tabs

by Jeff Stevens

Guitar hero is a popular game by Wii that let you play the guitar without enrolling into a guitar class. Tablature, a type of guitar notation, can help you to play the guitar without bumping in to complicated musical terminologies.

Tablatures are made to make guitar playing an enjoyable one. With it, you can avoid those complicated things in learning the basics of music.

You can learn to play guitar tabs in just one reading and constant practice. Usually, tablature has 6 horizontal lines showing the strings of your guitar. The highest line signifies the highest pitch and the lowest would be for low pitch contrasting the placement of your guitar in which, the lowest pitch is placed on the first string and the highest will be found on the last string. This would be your first step in learning the guitar tabs.

Certain notes are assigned to each line on the tablature. The first line signifies E in a high pitch, the second is a B followed by a G, D, A and another E in low pitch. These are the notes that you are going to use in playing the guitar. Placed after the notes are numbers that represents frets where you will be going to place your finger. This will be followed by figures of a 0 and an X. 0 means that no finger should be place on that string but will be included when you strum. On the other hand, an X means that the string should neither be placed with a finger nor be strummed.

Guitar tabs, though simple and easy, has also a weakness, It does not provide teachings on the right timing in playing the guitar. That is why you need to use your sense of hearing and should be creative enough to play a song perfectly. If you just want to play the guitar, this will not be a problem. But if the time comes that you'll decided to learn music deeper, you can always have your basic lesson in music.
